Welcome to TRLabs Winnipeg!

TRLabs creates innovative information & communications technologies and trains students to enhance ICT expertise and improve Canada's global competitiveness. Labs in Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg, along with 51 partner members, collaborate to produce a unique synergy of industry, government, university, technology and applications research focusing on future network needs and demands in areas such as: data networking; digital media; health; home technologies; network systems; photonics; and wireless communications.

TRLabs Winnipeg was established in 1994 and currently employs some 48 people in research and development. The Winnipeg lab has a particular focus on data networking (improving the speed, reliability and efficiency of the communications network), and eHealth (ICT application to the health sector).

TRLabs' success at contributing to the growth of Manitoba's ICT industry has included training of 135 Masters and Ph.D. students in Computer and Electrical Engineering, generation of 29 patents issued or filed, and the production of 46 industry-commercialized technologies in the last five years. Graduates remaining in Manitoba reached two-thirds last year (40% historically).

TRLabs Winnipeg is located in Smartpark, a world-class research and technology park on University of Manitoba's Fort Garry Campus.
